The wine hiking trail Rhein Nahe is situated along the Nahe valley from Bingen to Kirn. The trail leads through the vineyards of the Nahe region and beautiful valleys with impressing cliffs. Enjoy the region where vintners create wines that are enjoyed all over the world.
The Soonwaldsteig crosses the nature park "Soonwald-Nahe". This new trail provides the perfect combination of enjoying the nature, recreation and regeneration.

A tour through the forest of Bad Sobernheim.
The tour starts at the parking lot of Hotel Maasberg Therme, one of the three wellness hotels in Bad Sobernheim, located directly at street K20. We walk on a track across the fields until we reach the next junction. We turn left to Hans-Stassen-Weg (S1). We follow the S1 sign until we reach the golfing court of Hotel Maasberg-Therme. We walk on the left side along the forest.
Enjoy the beautiful view over Bad Sobernheim, Meddersheim and the Domberg. At the next junction we walk straight on until we reach the next junction. Then we turn left - direction forest. This way will lead us to a barrier - keep right. We walk along the fish pond. Enjoy the silence and the fresh air of the forest. At the next junction we can see the fisher oak, dedicated to the forest warden Fischer. Follow the sign "Bockenau" and keep on the right side.
On the main path we follow the sign "Bockenau" and turn left. After approximately 50 metres we reach the street K21, we turn left, at the next junction we turn left again. Now we can see the Schinderhannes oak. A memory of the legendary highwayman, wo roamed the Hunsrück forests in the 18th century. On the other side of the road a trail leads to the restaurant Leo's Ruh (approximately 2,5 km). We follow the trail through the forest. After a distance of approx. 2 km we reach the highest point of our tour : 413,5 m. At the next junction we go straight on. At the following junction we turn left, we go straight on until we reach the hikers parking "Oberer Zollstock".
In front of the parking lot we turn left, direction Bad Sobernheim. We cross the forest and follow the sign "Bad Sobernheim" until we reach the barrier. On the left side we can see the former spa "Neues Leben". Several years ago, the Felke-spa, unique in Bad Sobernheim, was offered in "Neues Leben". We keep on walking on the right side in direction to the forest. At the next junction we turn right and walk along the stream (S1). Before we reach the street K20 we turn left and walk along the stream until we reach our point of start. Now we have the possibility to have a meal at the restaurant of Hotel Maasberg Therme or return directly to Bad Sobernheim and relax in one of the nice restaurants.

Enjoy the silence of the forest and relax ! During hot and sunny days this trail offers shadow and coolness. Starting at the parking lot at the opposite of the Romantic Hotel Bollants' im Park we walk in direction to the Rhineland-Palatinate open-air museum. After 300 m we turn left into the S5-trail. We have to walk approx. 100 m uphill. At the next junction we turn right and walk through the beautiful forest. This way leads us to the little temple.
Right below we can have a look at the "Wehrfritzsche Mühle" a symbol of Bad Sobernheim. After a short break we go on and turn left at the next junction.
When we reach the next junction we will turn right to the Hottenbachweg S5. We follow this way until we reach "At the star". Now we turn right direction "fat oak tree". This old oak is legally protected.
From here we walk down-hill to the Hottenbachtal. At the junction we turn left. On our way we can see a huge beech which is also legally protected. When leaving the forest we can enjoy the wide view over the beautiful Nahe valley with its numerous vintages. You can even see Schloß Daun. On the left side you can see the villages Meddersheim and Merxheim and on the other side the villages Nußbaum, Monzingen and Martinstein.
We cross the "Hottenbach" and reach the river Nahe on the right side. We walk along the river side through the charming landscape until we reach the Nahe bridge of Meddersheim. There we turn left, cross the bridge and continue walking on the cycle path. We pass the huge ploplars and the riding-stable and turn to the right - direction "Mühlenteich".
We follow this way until we reach the Wehrfritzsche' Mühle. This mill has was built in the middle ages right near the Mühlenteich and was used as urban mill.
From 1755 on the family Fuchs from Monzingen and from 1800 on Mr. Wiegand Ignaz Wehrfritz used this mill as a paper mill. In the year 1934 the production of paper was stopped as there were no descendants to continue the business. So the owner of the local gelantine factory bought the whole estate in the year 1936. The beautiful millwheel was restored in the year 1988.
We continue our way along the cycle path, we pass the tennis courts, walk over a small stone bridge and follow the road. Now we can already see the Nahe bridge. We walk straight on until we reach the minigolf court and the RV park.
We climb up the stairs of the Nahe bridge, cross the bridge and reach our point of start. After a short break we have the possibility to visit the Rhineland-Palatinate open-air museum or we can go to the city of Bad Sobernheim either to do some shopping or to enjoy the rest of the day in one of the beautiful cafes at the market square.
